Sex Therapy
What is Sex Therapy?
Sexual Concerns are legitimate and important, as well as, embarrassing and at times awkward. Individuals have a right to expect serious professional attention and expert knowledge when they consult sex therapists about sexual concerns.
Sex Therapists and Clinical Sexologists have extensive post-graduate education and specialized training in the fields of human sexuality, psychology and clinical mental health.
Joan is a Board-Certified Clinical Sexologist and a certified Sex Therapist with the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) which is a rigorous certification process for Sex Therapy.
Sex is considered a powerful experience that can also create distress and shame when our expectations fall short, in addition to feeling uncomfortable with this topic even when we feel safe to share with our partners and physicians.
